MOUNTAINS AND HILLS

Savannah, valleys, hills and mountains are the landforms of the island. Sierra de La Cañada stands out with 303 m. of altitude, situated east-south of the island. Its summit overviews the island, and the sea that surrounds it. The Cerro San Pedro is on the east and Montelargo hill is the south of La Cañada. The Sierra de la Caba is two kilometers from La Cañada and the hill of Daguilla. Abundant water streams flow down its slopes.

The hill of Cunagua, two kilometers northeast of Cerro de San Pedro, the Mal Pais, toward the center of the island, two kilometres from the hill of the Daguilla and the hills of Chili are arid.

From the Sierra de San José and the hill of the Nativity several streams flow with high mineral content. There are several small hills, called Juan de la Mar, Siguanea Mandadero y Cristales.

The Sierra de Colombo washed by the sea, as the Sierra de Bibijagua, next to Sierra Caballo of 298 m. north is located about a mile southeast of the city of Nueva Gerona. Sierra Las Casas on the north, has of two important elevations, extending from north to south for a distance of about four kilometers and are divided by an open and several gullies. Las Casas del sur , which is the highest with 270 m. of altitude and Las Casas del norte reaches 260 m. Sierra Caballo and Las Casas are mountain ranges with high quality marble.
